RIP Gorillaz, 2001 - 2007/8...?

straight from Damon Albarn's mouth [via NME]: all that's left is an animated movie, no more albums. I gotta say, I totally fell for the concept and the resulting music. Never really vibed on the dub/dancehall spacemonkeyz vs gorillaz: laika come home disc, but the band as a total package.. wow. the crazed history of the band members, the amazing art, groundbreaking holographic concerts, books, posters, "live" dvds, the maze of a website that is Kong Studios, the numerous vinyl figures.. boy, did they ever hook me with the fabricated mythos. kudos to albarn for the wildly successful side venture.. sad to see such popular characters go, maybe they'll find use somewhere.. but now for Albarn- Blur reunion album??

tangent: i've been asked to compile a mix CD of recent uptempo, high energy, mall-punk-y type hits.. and i'm kinda at a loss. one example: that new avril lavigne "girlfriend" single.. stuff that fast, etc. any suggestions? please to the commenting. i'm thinking fall out boy, and maybe my chemical romance, but not necessarily as dramatic.. so.. what's "hip" nowadays? what's "with it"?

I.. don't cook. I'll try every now and then, but my prowess is little to none. I've f'd up EasyMac, 'fercryin'outloud. Baking, I think, is an easier proposition. Exact measurements and times mesh better with my more scientific mind than 'a dash' of this, 'some' of that.. 'to taste'ing. So.. this was my contribution to the easter festivities.

Well mostly me. 85% or so. Had the idea [anyone remember tiff's from H's going away thing?], baked the cake, assembled.. some of it gets blamed on me and circumstance.. ingredients being poured, wrong instruments used, killing my shoulder not being able to beat/whip the pudding fast enough.. that and i didnt clean out the kitchenaid bowl of cake batter to just make it in there.. <3 that kitchenaid tho..

Anyway. Turned out to be the hit of the party. Circumstantially anyway- desserts were few, due to the family on pie duty calling in sick :(. But with 8 total people no-showing, there were TONS of main and side dishes; so there was barely a dent in that total, but everyone took a shot at this sucker. [well not the 2 kidlets- weird huh? they don't like whipped cream..] And it was surprisingly light, for how it looked. I tried to offset the imposing look by telling everyone about the sugar and fat free chocolate fudge pudding, and fat free whipped topping [dunno about the aerosol can to finish the top off with a flourish, but.. eh]. Normal box of devil's food cake though. Kinda messed the equality of the strata, however; first cake layer is HUGE, so they kinda graduate on the way up.

Blah blah blah.. My point being: I HAD THE MOST POPULAR DISH AT EASTER. DEFINITE SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE.
