the freaky gourmet

ladies and gentlemen, thanks to the folks at Maxim Online, I've found the next culinary disaster that i just *have* to try: hailing from New York, NY, Ditch Plain's Ditch Dog.
Pictures forthcoming, sometime. whenever we get around to it.. doesn't look all that elaborate. [definitely no "michigan caviar".]

hm. hot dogs just seem like an easy target for these kind of franken-foods.. anyone got any different ideas? remember the fat darrell?

that warm, fuzzy feeling...

...of the hairs on the back of your neck, bristling with rage:

Lifting the ban on taxpayer funding of research on new stem cells from fertilized embryos would better serve both science and the nation, the chief of the National Institutes of Health told lawmakers Monday.

Allowing the ban to remain in place, Dr. Elias A. Zerhouni told a Senate panel, leaves his agency fighting "with one hand tied behind our back."...

...Bush issued the first and so far only veto of his presidency last year when he killed legislation that would have expanded federal funding of stem-cell research. In January, the House passed a revived proposal.

it's nice to know that with all the madness going around with the war on iraqterror, the troop surge, n.korea's nuke talks, subpoenas on the judicial firings, global warming, signing statements.. you name it.. i can still count on him using his second veto to tell me i'm not worth the science.
[and the reasoning is his religious beliefs, right? church and state anyone? SCIENCE, people. medical advancement. what happened to USA #1? yay China, yay India]

but hey, at least we've got a great health care system in this country.

I Am Trying to Break Your Heart

the fine folks of the Seattle paper "The Stranger" have found a way [via Stuff Magazine] to take the Francheesie that one step over the top into the depths of culinary hell.

Erica Barnett wrote a brief but meaty post the other day about the heart-stopping joy of bacon-wrapped, cheese-filled, battered and fried hot dogs...

...I decided to call her bluff and see if she’d really eat such a bizarre concoction of unnatural ingredients.

[Link to arcticle, complete with photographic goodness evidence]

i applaud, and hang my head in shame for wanting to try this just once.

so H.. when u coming in for a visit? i've got an.. experiment..
[ugh jk. i retched a lil just thinking about biting into one]
[ok maybe 90% kidding]

ok, so TMNT was fun, but without a way to keep continuing [like Gauntlet on XBLA] i've only made it so far.. course, we still need to try it 4player stylee.

but now i saw THIS on the new releases schedule.. TETRIS EVOLUTION. *that* i can sink my teeth into. 4-player over live? i might actually discourage my normal xbl buddies from geting it; i'd feel too bad for constantly wiping the floor with them ;)

[yeah thats right, bring. it.]
{damn amazon one-click, and Prime also}

"the only man with the balls to hold his shield"

in a followup to his march 8th show where he covered Captain America's death, he was sent a letter and package from the Marvel EIC, Joe Quesada, stating something to the effect of.. 'Although you criticized him for non-compliance of the federally mandated Superhero Registration Act, Cap, in his will, gave this item "to the only man with the balls to hold it."

something like that :) i couldve posted this seconds after it happened but the adult onset ADD kicked in and next thing i knew, i was in the kitchen eating an apple during his signoff.

but yeah how cool is THAT! fanboy'd out when he knocked on it and said "hear that? thats the sosund of pure Wakandan Vibranium."

..Tek Jansen = the new Cap?

EDIT: damn- as soon as i say that, i spot this article on marvel.com. HILARIOUS

EDIT 2: Quesada fesses up; followup

more futurama news, weekend

http://new.ifmagazine.com/feature.asp?article=1962

havent posted much; been under the weather-ish. saw 300 in IMAX, and was pretty much taken out of the whole movie 'cause of the *family* that was in the row in front of us.. come on america. every time anything interesting happened [which was a LOT], my mind went "well THAT'S a great thing to expose your children to." and in IMAX too.. 40 foot tall sex scenes, breasts the size of a house.. and the dad just leans over and tells them to cover their eyes or something. not to mention the severed limbs and decapitations. and they didnt even flank the kids, they were seated girl/boy/dad/mom.. put the smallest child on the end where she cant hear her parents.. nice.. she couldnt have been more than 7-8, and her brother not much more than that. sigh
fun day tho, even tho it was damn early.. 11:10 show, dial back to 10:30 to assure seats, another 2 to cover brunch, another half hour for drive time.. i got up at SEVEN. now yes thats NORMAL to some people, but i dont get UP til maybe 11am-1pm like normal people, dont even eat til 1-3.. woof. an actual morning.. and food in the AM.. i was mentally unavailable for most of the day. left the theater, and it was bright as heck out.. ran around the randall corridor.. bbuy, $1 store, trader joe's.. bought Aleve @ the dollar store for the splitting headache i had, hahah.
uhm, yeah, thats pretty much my weekend.. watched the kidlets so the big lunas could go see the movie; same with them, little kids in the next row. you know, i always figured i'd either be a really awesome parent, or a really horrible one.. not that im planning on kids anytime soon [uncle-ing, w00t], but i'm starting to think the former. i mean come ON.
EDIT: 70mil, #1 box office, biggest march opening.. suckit, wild hogs
